Banking Mode

Banking Mode is a special feature of Online Armor designed to secure your Online Banking. When you switch the firewall into banking mode, your computer is only allowed to connect to legitimate banking sites. If you activate banking mode before you do any online financial transactions, Online Armor will ensure you cannot be deceived by fraudulent sites, phishing emails or other scams.

How it works

When in Banking Mode, Online Armor restricts you to connecting to trusted (or protected) websites. These sites are defined centrally by Tall Emu, but you can add your own if your bank or financial institution does not appear in Online Armor's database.

The Logic behind banking mode is simple - rather than try to maintain a database of all "fake" banking sites, instead we make a list of the real ones. This means that if you connect to a site in Banking mode it will be legitimate – because you only connect to “whitelisted” banking sites.

If you select banking mode before going and doing Online Banking you are much less likely to fall prey to entering your details into a fake banking site.

Using Banking Mode

The first thing you should do is enter all of the domains, including subdomains that your bank uses in the "My Websites" part of Online Armor, and mark them as "protected". This will make them available when you go into banking mode. (If you have problems doing this, post at our support forum).

Once this is done, each time you access your bank, flip Online Armor into banking mode and you will be protected.

To engage Banking Mode:

• On the Online Armor configuration menu, choose "Banking Mode", or
• On the "General" options page in Online Armor, choose "Banking Mode"
